This website is designed to celebrate the Jack Russell Terrier.
In my opinion Jack Russells are the funniest, smartest, and most entertaining dogs in the world. We have had five of them--Buster, Reggie, Polly, Snickers, Jack, Cammie. Right now Polly is our only child--ummm, dog and that's the way she likes it. Know one to have to share our attention with. No one to share the food with. She doesn't sing any more though. When we had three others with her they would gather on the front porch each evening about dusk and sing their hearts out. It was like four part harmony, coyote-wanna-be-style.

Jack Russell Terriers (or terrierists, as I like to call them) are bred to be hunting dogs. They are not only avid and enthusiastic hunters. They are addicts! Potential owners beware! They are energetic and DETERMINED to get their quest. They will hunt all types of animals their own size and smaller, even (unfortunately) cats.
Interestingly enough, a registered Jack Russell puppy is not an automatic outcome of the breeding of two registered Jack Russell parents. In fact, the JRTCA, the largest Jack Russell Terrier club and registry in the world, is actually opposed to recognition by any kennel club that registers whole litters based on bloodlines alone. In order to be recognized by the JRTCA the puppy must meet certain requirements in addition to bloodlines. The Parson Russell Terrier is the show dog version of the Jack Russell Terrier. The AKC recognizes the bloodlines of the Parson Russell, while the JRTCA celebrates the true hunting spirit of the Jack Russell.
